Andre Villa and STACT are revolutionizing Freestyle Motocross
06/12/2018 - On June 16th Freestyle Motocross legend Andre Villa will host the world’s best action sports athletes in Oslo, Norway during his Ulleevaal Xtreme Event. An international collection of the finest FMX, BMX and Scooter athletes will compete for top honors in Freestyle, Speed and Style and Best Trick.
With judging being a critical component to action sports events, California tech startup STACT developed a system that has revolutionized the world of surf event scoring and fan engagement in 2017 and have now partnered with Andre Villa for his Ullevaall Xtreme event to do the same for the FMX, BMX and Scooter world. Their technology will provide an immersive in-stadium experience for fans with the ability for fans to engage in the action.
STACT is a fully integrated solution for event organizers, athletes and fans. Their cloud based technology creates a seamless experience and allows fans to engage with athletes, providing data and video from events published in real-time through the STACT App. Event organizers simply download the STACT EM (Event Manager) which provides tools and technology to run events, while athletes and fans download the consumer facing application for iOS and Android called STACT App.
"I reached out to Andre in the beginning of the year and explained to him what we are doing in the surf world and that we are really interested in coming into FMX with what we have. From there it was a lot of back and forth between us and Andre's team to give our developers the input they needed to build a judging system that will change the way FMX is judged from here on out. Andre Villa is excited with the potential of STACT system: "We are going to revolutionize the way FMX is judged. The traditional way has the judge score every trick based on their own opinion independent of the execution of the trick. This new system will put a much bigger emphasis on execution and it eliminates a lot of variables to make judging more accurate and fair. In the whole process it also speeds up the judging process and takes some of the confusion out of the judging panel."
